Team Guidelines

Coaching Policies:

  • The coaching staff has an open-door policy.  Any time a player needs to talk to any one of the staff all they need to do is ask.  The one exception is on game days.  If the occasion should arise, coaches will not engage in arguing with upset players on game day or in front of the team.  Please talk to them in private the following day.

  • The coaches will decide who plays and in what position they will play.

  • The amount of playing time per player will be proportional to the amount of effort that player shows to meeting their own goals as well as the goals of the team.  Players will be evaluated weekly by the coaching staff.

Athlete Guidelines:

  • Keep winning in perspective and help your teammates do the same

  • Set realistic performance goals

  • Be consistent in meeting your responsibility to the team and the coach.  This includes being on time to practices and games

  • Inform the coaches of any medical or physical ailments that may affect performance or health

  • Remain in the team technical area during games and prohibit fans from entering the team area

  • Work at home on technical skills

  • Provide only constructive comments to coaches, officials, and teammates.  Avoid derogatory comments

  • Show interest, enthusiasm, and support for your teammates and their goals

  • Control your emotions

  • Help when asked by coaches or officials

Player Expectations:

  • Commitment

    • Players are expected to be present at all practices and games and to work outside of planned sessions toward perfecting their game

    • More than being serious about winning, players are required to be serious about training

  • Respect

    • Players must show a respectful and positive attitude toward all teams, all coaches, and all officials as well as toward themselves, the fields, and the team equipment

  • Punctuality

    • Players are expected to arrive ready to play one hour before kickoff on game days and to be on time to practice.  A coach must be notified as early as possible if they are unable to attend

    • Players who fail to uphold these standards will have playing time cut

  • Skill and Ambition

    • Players should eagerly seek new knowledge about the games subtleties, strive to be able to apply tactics and strategies as instructed by the coaches, and be able to perform advanced technical skills

    • A player who willingly focuses on training, works with eager intensity, and is works to apply what they learn to the big picture of the game will advance in skill much faster than one who has a passive approach

  • Play for the Team

    • Players must be coachable and willing to sacrifice in order to elevate their teammates and not just themselves

Injury Prevention:

  • Warm-up

    • Make sure that you spend 10-15 minutes warming up your muscles and joints before strenuous activity

    • Warm-ups should include light jogging and dynamic stretching and should slowly increase in intensity over the warm-up.
